Extremely complex aroma with subtle hints of licorice, fine wood, spices, toasted bread, black fruits and tobacco, although it is still a little closed. The aromas develop and open during maturation in the bottle. Very structured in the mouth, dense and rich in tannins, but with the finesse and elegance expected of a great vintage.
Der Wein wird für 22 Monate in neuen französichen und amerikanischen Barriques ausgebaut. Dabei reift der Wein 16 Monate in neuen Barriques und weitere 6 Monate in gebrauchten Barriques des Château Lafite-Rothschild.
The Aalto project was founded in 1999 and launched. Oenologist Mariano Garcia, previously working for the Bodega Vega Secilia for 30 years, and Javier Zaccagnini, previously with the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin Authority, brought the project to life. The aim of the two professionals was to make a wine of the highest quality, which captures the soul of the famous Ribera del Duero. Herbicides and fertilizers are completely eliminated during cultivation. Short pruning, hand picking, the grapes are processed separately from different localities and blended at the end of the fermentation process. This gives the Aalto a balanced complexity that can almost be described as unique. Today, Aalto and Aalto PS are among the best red wines Spain has produced. And so a dreamy project became one of the most famous bodegas in the world.
