Almaviva Winery is one of the best wineries in Chile, founded in 1997 by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild. She steadfastly pursued the goal of producing an exceptional and distinctive top-quality wine that combines Chilean and European aspects. Due to her quality-conscious work, the Baroness was able to produce an excellent first vintage that quickly gained great renown. This vintage could already be marketed in 1998 under the name Almaviva - a success reserved for only a few wineries. The red wine Almaviva, the flagship of the Chilean winery, seems to combine South American and French aromas. The wine is able to reflect the qualitative and taste aspects of a Bordeaux, which is one of the noblest red wines in France.

The vineyards of Almaviva Winery, which cover a total of 41 hectares, are located in Puente Alto, in the centre of Chile's famous Maipo Valley wine-growing region. Maipo Valley is one of Chile's oldest and most productive wine-growing areas, which was already under vines in the 16th century. Decisive for the yield are not only the sandy soils, but also the Mediterranean climate, which is characterised by dry summers and rainy winter months.
