The nose of the 2017 is well described as mystical. Incredibly perfumed and floral, not only violets and rose petals, also jasmine, totally playful. Behind that, spicy raspberry, sweet cherry, a bit of currant, sea buckthorn and milk chocolate. An ultra-fine thrust, but at the same time also a high maturity. Nothing oxidative, but very ripe, very flattering, very sweet. You will easily give this wine credit on the nose that it is already 20 years as, but this stage it already shows at the release date, it keeps for the next decades. It is simply a dream of fragrance. Big glass, sniff is enough. Just as playful in the mouth, but showing good grip at the same time. Quite a lot of bite. The freshness is there, at the same time the maturity, the red fruit, but very soft. Playful, round and sweet, great length. But the playfulness, the floral, clearly dominates. The whole thing with this soft, ripe, sweet fruit of cherry, currant and raspberry. Very long and lilting. A delicate and filigree wine. From the release date it is perfect to drink for the next years.a great pleasure and perfection.

Vinification / aging

Wine fermented in stainless steel, long skin contact, ageing in large wooden barrels of 6,500 litres. Traditional. All Barolo wines remain in wooden barrels for 36 months.

Terroir

The wine grows in Castiglione Falletto on a 6.3 hectare site. It is 95 percent solely owned.
