History

The origin of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou goes back to the beginning of the 18th century.

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou gets its name from the beautiful (and large) stones typical of the soil of its vineyard. This exceptional ecosystem produces tasty wines: fine, elegant, of remarkable length. In short, an original wine of Saint-Julien. The 75 hectares of Château Ducru Beaucaillou are planted as follows: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. The vines are on average 35 years old. With age, the vine reduces its fertility and at the same time develops a dense and deep root network (up to 6 meters), which dampens the climatic climaxes and emphasis the peculiarities of the earth. The roots scrupulously explore this arid and dry soil for the necessary moisture and nutrients, so that the roots absorb the original elements that give the wine its typical character: that is the essence of Château Ducru Beaucaillou.
