Fine spice and aromas of cherries, oranges and flowers on the nose. Lots of pressure on the palate, well structured and elegant. Very juicy and soft finish. A great wine!
Fermentation with local yeasts in an open vat and with about 40% of the stems. After the gentle pressing, the wine matures for 14 months in three French barrels of 500 liters each.
Oscar Alegre and Eva Valgañon – The couple's journey together began in Italy, where the two of them studied viticulture. Both earned their spurs at several prestigious wineries – Oscar also had the honour of working with Alvaro Palacios and, later, Telmo Rodriguez – two giants of Spanish wine. In 2014, they began making their own wines in the shadow of the Obarenes Mountains in the Rioja Alta region, where Eva's family have been farming some of the best terroir in Rioja for the past 150 years. Their vineyards benefit from an Atlantic-influenced climate, higher rainfall compared to neighbouring Sierra de Cantabria, and a range of different limestone soils. First-generation winegrowers Oscar and Eva enjoy the freedom of developing their own style, experimenting in the vineyard and cellar to find the approach that works best for the terroir at their disposal. International acclaim for their first few vintages proves that the couple are on the right track.
The Tempranillo comes from old vineyards in Fonzaleche, Salinillas and Sajazarra and the Grenache from Cárdenas.
